The 2020 Peggy Fleming Trophy debuts the World’s first virtual figure skating competition

Due to the cancellation of the Broadmoor Open, the Broadmoor Skating Club changed direction so that the third annual Peggy Fleming Trophy competition became a historic, first of its kind, virtual streamed event in which 18 U.S. Senior Level nationally and internationally ranked Men and Ladies figure skaters competed with and against each other for the trophy.

Entrants videotaped their competition programs at their home training sites and submitted their 3:30 minute programs via video link to U. S. Figure Skating, the sport’s national governing body. Their programs were evaluated by a world-class group of judges and officials. The event is available for viewing indefinitely at US Figure Skating Fan Zone.

A message from David Hamula, President of the Broadmoor Skating Club

On behalf of the Broadmoor Skating Club, I would like to thank you…Peggy Fleming along with your husband, Dr. Greg Jenkins for their support and inspiration to this event.  Some 50 years ago US Figure Skating experienced unprecedented challenges in a difficult era for our country.  Peggy’s performances then transcended figure skating, the Olympics, and artistic entertainment during those times.  Today, the Peggy Fleming Trophy inspires a new generation of skaters during this challenging summer and raises their special talent to new levels of recognition.  The Broadmoor Open is honored to have the 2020 Peggy Fleming Trophy virtual for the world to see and enjoy.  Peggy Fleming – an artist for the ages.

We look forward to seeing you at the 2021  Broadmoor Open next summer, June 29-July 2nd

On behalf of a greatful Broadmoor Skating Club, Congratulations to all on making history.

 SKATING IS BACK INDEED!!!
